LAHORE: Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir on Thursday emphasised the Pakistan Army’s zero-tolerance policy towards threats to national security. He made the remarks while addressing officers during a visit to Lahore Garrison, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Field Marshal Munir reaffirmed the military’s commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and internal stability, adding that the armed forces remain ready to respond to evolving security challenges with professionalism, discipline, and determination. “He said the armed forces remained committed to promoting discipline, excellence, and selfless national service,” the ISPR statement said.

During the visit, he was briefed on the garrison’s operational preparedness, training standards, and initiatives to enhance combat efficiency. He also witnessed a specialised field training exercise highlighting the army’s adoption of advanced technologies and its emphasis on innovation and adaptability for future battlefields.

The CDF inspected sports and recreational facilities for troops, noting their role in maintaining morale, physical fitness, and overall well-being. He also visited a care centre at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Lahore, lauding the medical staff for providing state-of-the-art healthcare facilities.

The visit comes amid heightened security concerns, with the military citing Afghanistan as a hub for terrorists and non-state actors and warning against India-sponsored proxies involved in cross-border terrorism. Last month, the army leadership also cautioned political forces against rhetoric or agitation that could undermine national unity, pledging stern action against threats to stability.
