
The Federal Board of Revenue collected record tax revenue in December, officials said in Islamabad. The collection stood at Rs1,427.1 billion, the highest ever for December. It reached 99 percent of the monthly target.
FBR officials shared the figures during a briefing to Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. They said the monthly target was set at Rs1,446 billion. The near-target achievement reflected strong revenue performance.

According to officials, this was the highest tax collection for December in any year. They said revenue momentum improved sharply during the month. As a result, overall fiscal performance strengthened.
The Inland Revenue Service also posted strong results in December. It collected Rs1,308 billion against a target of Rs1,310 billion. This marked an achievement rate of 99.8 percent.

Officials said tax collection rose sharply compared to November. Revenue increased by 59 percent month-on-month. Collections jumped from Rs898 billion in November to Rs1,427.1 billion in December.
