The Sindh government has decided that, in order to ensure speed, transparency, and effective monitoring of development projects, the location of all future government development projects will be verified through the GPS system. This decision was made in an important meeting chaired by Sindh Minister for Planning and Development, Jam Khan Shoro, at the office of the Chairman of Planning and Development. The meeting was attended by Chairman Planning and Development, Syed Najam Ahmed Shah, along with other relevant officials. During the meeting, a briefing was given for the first time regarding the use of modern computer software for monitoring development schemes. Provincial Minister Jam Khan Shoro stated that the use of this software will further improve project monitoring. From now on, the location of all development projects will be verified through the GPS system, while direct inspections will also be conducted to eliminate possible errors in the data collected under the old system. Officials were instructed that all new development projects must be aligned with global development goals (SDGs). The briefing revealed that achieving these goals requires 16 billion rupees, and 26 officers have been appointed as focal persons for this purpose. Jam Khan Shoro further said that large development projects will be audited by third parties to ensure quality of work and transparency. The meeting also discussed the shortage of IT teams and officers, emphasizing the effective use of data available at the district level. The provincial minister directed that all departments must include ongoing and new development schemes in the system according to the guidelines. The Minister for Planning also informed that under the District ADP, 7,500 development schemes are currently in progress across Sindh.
