Karachi police have deployed 6,000 personnel to prevent celebratory firing during New Year festivities, officials said. The city will remain open, with traffic management in place. Authorities warned that violators will face strict legal action.
Karachi Police Chief, Additional IG Javed Alam Odho, told that unlike previous years, no roads will be closed. Past years saw route closures, but now the focus is on smooth traffic flow. Security measures will be strengthened across key city areas.

He said all available resources will be used to prevent injuries and fatalities from firing. Citizens are urged to refrain from celebratory shots. CCTV and Safe City cameras will help identify offenders for strict action under the law.
Odho cautioned that any firing causing injury or death will be treated as attempted murder. FIRs in such cases can seriously impact young offenders’ futures, including passport or job clearance. Authorities stressed responsible celebrations to avoid legal complications.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad Division has imposed Section 144 across all districts. A notification bans firing and fireworks on New Year’s Eve. Officials urged citizens to maintain peace and warned that violations will be strictly prosecuted.
