
Pakistan on Monday expressed deep concern over the persecution of minorities in India. The Foreign Office reacted after reports of vandalism disrupted Christmas festivities. Officials said the incidents reflected a troubling pattern.
According to Indian media, mobs vandalised Christmas decorations at shopping malls and schools. The incidents occurred in Chhattisgarh, Assam, Kerala, and Uttar Pradesh ahead of Christmas. Reports said attackers used sticks and burned festive banners.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Office highlighted wider human rights concerns in India. It cited state-backed actions against Muslims, including home demolitions and mob violence. The statement said these actions deepened fear and alienation among minorities.

The Foreign Office also referred to the Muhammad Akhlaq lynching case from Uttar Pradesh. It alleged continued efforts to shield the accused from accountability. Officials said many similar cases remain unresolved.
