Saba Qamar faces court over wearing police uniform

Published on: December 24, 2025 5:30 PM

A petition has been filed against actor Saba Qamar in Lahore’s Sessions Court for allegedly wearing a police uniform without permission. The case has drawn attention after a video showing her in a Senior Police (SP) uniform circulated online. Authorities are reviewing the legal implications.

The petition, filed by advocate Aftab Bajwa on behalf of citizen Wasim Zawar, claims no individual may wear a police uniform or SP badge without official authorization. The petitioner argues this act violates Pakistan Penal Code sections 171 and 419. These sections cover wearing official garb fraudulently and cheating by personation.

In the video, Saba Qamar is seen in a dressing room wearing the SP uniform. Advocate Bajwa emphasized that a no-objection certificate (NOC) from police is mandatory to legally wear the uniform and badge. He stated failure to obtain permission constitutes a legal offense.

Additional Sessions Judge Ilyas Rehan requested a report from the Anarkali Police in Lahore regarding the petition. The police were asked to provide findings by December 14. The court will review the report before proceeding further.

The case highlights the legal restrictions on impersonating public servants in Pakistan. Legal experts say violating uniform and badge laws can lead to imprisonment, fines, or both. The outcome of the case will set a precedent for future instances.
