
Muzaffarabad, Pakistan – Azad Kashmir, known for its lush mountains, dense forests, stunning waterfalls, flowing rivers, and historical sites, continues to attract tourists from around the world. Its natural beauty draws hundreds of thousands of domestic and international visitors each year.
According to the Department of Tourism and Archaeology, more than 1.5 million tourists visited the plains and hilly regions of Azad Kashmir in 2025. Officials expect this number to rise significantly by the end of June 2026. New tourist destinations are also being introduced to further promote tourism in the region.

Director General of Tourism and Archaeology, Chaudhry Mehrban, said adventure-seeking tourists flock to snow-covered areas such as Leepa Valley, Neelum Valley, Ganga Choti, and other mountainous regions during the winter season. The rising number of tourists has also created significant employment opportunities for local communities.
Officials added that efforts are ongoing to improve facilities and infrastructure, ensuring visitors have a safe and enjoyable experience. These measures aim to make Azad Kashmir an even more attractive and accessible destination for tourists.
