Aleema Khan, sister of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, on Monday filed an application seeking her acquittal under Section 265-K of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) in the November 26 protest case, as the Special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi issued notices to the concerned parties.

The plea was taken up during a lengthy hearing that lasted around five hours, during which the prosecution recorded statements from eight witnesses in the case. The FIR names 11 accused, including Aleema Khan, in connection with the protest.
Ms Khan appeared before the court along with her legal counsel, while prosecutor Faisal Malik represented the state. After formally admitting the acquittal application for hearing, the court sought replies from the prosecution and other relevant parties.
At the request of the defence, the court agreed to defer further proceedings until after the winter vacation and adjourned the case until January 2.

During the hearing, Aleema Khan informed the court that she had earlier submitted 11 books with a request that they be delivered to the incarcerated PTI founder. The court told her that the books had been handed over to Imran Khan and that a confirmation report had been received from the jail authorities. Ms Khan expressed gratitude to the court for facilitating the delivery.
The case relates to the November 26 protest, for which several PTI leaders are facing trial before the anti-terrorism court. Among the witnesses whose statements were recorded were officials from PID, Pemra, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), Rawalpindi police, and jail authorities.

Separately, it emerged that Imran Khan was unable to sign powers of attorney documents required to file an appeal against his recent conviction in the Toshakhana case. According to his counsel, Advocate Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry, jail authorities delayed and eventually denied a meeting needed to obtain the signatures.
