Security forces have killed nine terrorists as a result of two separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing said in a statement on Sunday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), “On 19 December 2025, nine khwarij belonging to Indian proxy fitna al khwarij were killed in two separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.”
It added that the first intelligence-based operation (IBO) was carried out on the reported presence of terrorists in the Dera Ismail Khan district of the province.
“During the conduct of [the] operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarij’s location, and after an intense fire exchange, four khwarij were sent to hell.”
Per the statement, the second IBO was conducted in the Bannu district. “In ensuing fire exchange, five more khwarij were effectively neutralised by the security forces.”
The ISPR said that weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the slain terrorists, who had remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces, law enforcement agencies, and the target killing of innocent civilians.
“Sanitisation operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored kharji found in the area, as a relentless counterterrorism campaign under vision “Azm e Istehkam” (as approved by Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) by the security forces and law enforcement agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” it said.
Separately, the Tirah Valley jirga, held between the district administration and a 24-member representative jirga committee, the other day, was concluded successfully, with a mutually agreed schedule for the displacement of residents.
According to the agreed plan, the formal displacement process will begin on January 10 and the entire area will be vacated by January 25.
Following the completion of the military operation, the phased return of affected families will start after April 5, sources said on Sunday.
After reaching consensus, both parties signed a written agreement outlining the finalized points. Under the agreement, families whose houses were completely destroyed during the military operation will receive Rs 3 million in compensation, while those with partially damaged houses will be given Rs 1 million.
Additionally, each affected family will be provided Rs 250,000 in cash assistance through JazzCash or Easypaisa after biometric verification. A monthly stipend of Rs 50,000 will also be paid. Authorities have assured that transportation facilities, medical services during travel and food supplies will be provided separately to displaced families.
The biometric verification process will be completed at Bagh Markaz and Pandi Cheena. Families that relocate before January 10 will also be surveyed and included in the relief package.
Sources said all measures are being taken with a focus on the convenience of affected people, transparency and an organized rehabilitation process to ensure that displacement and return are carried out smoothly and effectively.
