
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was briefed on efforts to curb human smuggling and illegal travel abroad. Reports showed a significant drop in travelers using fake documents to enter the UK and Gulf countries. The briefing highlighted progress made through strict enforcement and technological upgrades.
Officials told the PM that most deported passengers were attempting travel to Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Iraq, and Malaysia. The FIA has arrested 451 individuals this year for involvement in illegal overseas travel. Additionally, 196 officers were dismissed after corruption investigations within the agency.

The briefing also revealed that illegal travel to Europe by Pakistanis fell by 47 percent. The PM praised the efforts of law enforcement and called for continued vigilance. He emphasized using technology to strengthen immigration systems and prevent smuggling.
Prime Minister Sharif directed authorities to act against corrupt elements and ensure smooth off-loading procedures at airports. He also stressed adopting artificial intelligence and mobile applications to track and monitor passenger data effectively. These steps aim to make immigration controls more efficient.

Authorities confirmed that restructuring of the FIA’s IT and IBMS sections is underway to combat human smuggling more effectively. The government’s combined approach of enforcement, technology, and strict action against corrupt officials is expected to further reduce illegal travel abroad.
