
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting on exports, emphasizing that boosting exports is vital for Pakistan’s economic stability. He assured full support for the industrial and trading sectors to achieve sustainable growth. The premier stressed that export-led growth is a top government priority.
During the meeting, PM Shehbaz highlighted the importance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for expanding the export base and creating jobs. He directed that SMEs be promoted on a priority basis to strengthen Pakistan’s economy. He said a robust SME sector would increase competitiveness and support long-term development.
To address exporters’ challenges, the prime minister instructed federal ministers to personally visit major industrial cities. They will meet exporters directly, listen to their concerns, and ensure rapid resolution of trade-related issues. He emphasized that this hands-on approach will improve government-business coordination.
PM Shehbaz also underscored the need for provincial cooperation, particularly in sectors like cold chain infrastructure. He noted that improved coordination would strengthen supply chains and enhance export competitiveness nationwide. He stressed that collective efforts between federal and provincial authorities are crucial for economic growth.

Officials briefed the prime minister on fiscal year 2025–26 trade performance, reviewing exports and imports. They discussed trends, achievements, and challenges in meeting national export targets.
