Fisheries Dept told to complete preparations for EU audit mission

Provincial Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Muhammad Ali Malkani stated that for the upcoming European Union audit mission, all preparations must be completed, and all fisheries-related agencies must fully cooperate. To enhance the country’s reputation and increase foreign revenue, everyone must work day and night, and any officer who fails to perform will be sent home.

These remarks were made by the Provincial Minister while chairing an important meeting at the DG office of the Pakistan Marine Fisheries Department to implement key decisions regarding the EU visit.

On the occasion, Parliamentary Secretary for Livestock and Fisheries MPA Asif Khan, Secretary for Livestock and Fisheries Dr. Kazim Hussain Jatoi, Chairperson of Fishermen Cooperative Society Ms. Fatima Majeed, DG Marine Fisheries Pakistan Dr. Mansoor Hussain Wasan, DG Sindh Fisheries Marine Dr. Asim Hussain, MD Karachi Fisheries Harbor Authority Zahid Hussain Kemato, along with senior officials from the Works & Services Department and Fisheriaes Department, also participated.

Provincial Minister Muhammad Ali Malkani received briefings from all officials of fisheries-related agencies and stated that the EU audit mission is expected by March 2026. He added that if the mission’s audit is successful, it will raise the country’s profile and open international markets for fish exports, providing significant foreign revenue.

The Provincial Minister also announced the appointment of Parliamentary Secretary and MPA Asif Khan as the focal person to monitor the EU delegation’s visit and instructed all department heads to submit weekly reports of their preparations.

Muhammad Ali Malkani further stated that upon successful completion of the mission, exports are expected to generate approximately 400 million dollars. Seafood is a vital part of the country’s economy.
