FBI thwarts Los Angeles new year bomb plot

Published on: December 16, 2025 11:00 PM

The FBI foiled a bomb plot targeting multiple locations in Los Angeles, including U.S. immigration agents and their vehicles, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced on Monday. Four individuals have been charged in the case.

The defendants face conspiracy and possession of an unregistered destructive device, according to the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Officials said the suspects planned attacks around New Year’s Eve.

Bondi described the group behind the plot as the Turtle Island Liberation Front, a far-left, pro-Palestine, anti-government, and anti-capitalist organization. They allegedly planned bombings at five locations targeting two U.S. companies in Los Angeles.

The complaint identifies the accused as Audrey Illeene Carroll, 30, Zachary Aaron Page, 32, Dante Gaffield, 24, and Tina Lai, 41. Carroll reportedly presented a detailed eight-page handwritten plan called “Operation Midnight Sun” to a confidential source.

Carroll and Page allegedly recruited the other two members to acquire bomb-making materials and travel to the Mojave Desert to construct and test explosive devices on December 12, 2025. The FBI intervened before they could complete the operation.

Officials noted that the group also discussed targeting Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents with pipe bombs in January or February, intending to intimidate and harm government personnel. Prosecutors are expected to file additional charges as evidence is reviewed.

FBI surveillance footage shown at a press conference displayed the defendants handling precursor chemicals and assembling bomb-making materials in a desert location. Authorities confirmed all four suspects were arrested on December 12, 2025.
