The Punjab government has further expanded the scope of digital traffic enforcement, significantly enhancing the implementation of traffic laws through the smart technology of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA).
According to a PSCA spokesperson on Thursday, the Authority’s AI-based e-challan system has now been activated in 24 districts of the province, enabling automated issuance of e-challans for 19 categories of traffic violations.
The spokesperson said that the AI model allows instant detection of violations, while AI-enabled cameras automatically monitor offences such as non-helmet use, overspeeding, signal violations, and lane violations, among others.
He added that the Safe City e-challan system has led to a 90 percent increase in compliance with helmet use and other traffic rules across Punjab.
Citizens can easily check their e-challans through the Safe City website and mobile applications, the spokesperson said, clarifying that e-challan SMS alerts are sent only from the Punjab government’s official number 8070.
