An armed drone launched from Afghanistan hit a workers’ camp in Tajikistan on November 26, 2025. The attack targeted the LLC Shohin SM site near the “Istiqlol” Border Guard Post in Khatlon. It killed three Chinese employees and triggered strong concern from Tajik authorities.
The strike was carried out using an unmanned aerial vehicle loaded with grenades and firearms. It entered Tajik territory and released deadly weapons on the camp. The incident exposed serious threats coming from Afghan-based criminal groups operating without control.
Tajikistan stressed that it has consistently worked to protect the border and maintain peace in the region. However, armed groups inside Afghanistan continue disruptive activities that endanger civilians and foreign workers. Their actions undermine regional stability and violate Tajikistan’s security efforts.
Moreover, Tajik officials strongly condemned the attack and described it as terrorism aimed at destabilizing the border. They highlighted China’s constructive role in regional development and mourned the loss of its citizens. Authorities vowed to increase coordination to counter threats coming from Afghan territory.
Therefore, Tajikistan urged the Afghan authorities to take firm and effective action against these criminal groups. They called for stronger border control and reliable cooperation to prevent future violence. Officials warned that continued negligence inside Afghanistan could fuel greater insecurity for both nations.
