CAA reinstates Serene Air’s certificate but flights remain suspended

Published on: November 27, 2025 12:39 PM

Serene Air granted another chance as CAA restores AOC

KARACHI – The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has decided to reinstate Serene Air’s Air Operator Certificate (AOC) following an internal review of the airline’s operations. The move allows the airline to import aircraft engines and spare parts necessary to meet regulatory requirements, offering the carrier another chance to stabilize its services.

CAA officials emphasized that while the AOC has been reinstated, Serene Air’s flight operations will remain suspended until all outstanding regulatory conditions are fully satisfied. The directive came from the Director of Flight Standards under instructions from the CAA’s Director General.

The airline’s suspension stems from a notification issued on October 23, 2025, when the CAA cited non-compliance with aviation safety regulations. At the time, the authority noted that Serene Air did not have a single airworthy aircraft ready for commercial service and failed to meet mandatory operational standards, prompting the temporary revocation of its AOC.

Serene Air management explained that one of its aircraft had been grounded in Saudi Arabia after a bird strike incident. The airline requested special permission from the CAA to operate flights to bring stranded passengers back home. Passengers and industry observers raised concerns over the disruption, as Serene Air previously operated multiple domestic and international routes.

CAA officials assured that the reinstatement is part of ongoing efforts to support the airline while ensuring strict adherence to safety standards. The authority will continue to monitor the airline closely to ensure full compliance before permitting the resumption of flight operations.
