ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Wednesday rejected circulating rumours about a possible change in Balochistan’s top leadership, calling the speculation “baseless and unfounded”. His statement followed a meeting with Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti at Parliament House, where both leaders reviewed the province’s political, social and developmental landscape.

The speaker reaffirmed the federal government’s full support for the provincial leadership, stressing that stability in Balochistan is crucial for national progress. He highlighted that ongoing mega-development projects are a positive indicator for the province, adding that resolving the challenges faced by the people of Balochistan remains a key priority for the federation.

Sadiq underscored the importance of strengthened coordination between the federal and provincial governments. Improved collaboration, he noted, would enable authorities to better address public concerns and ensure efficient delivery of development initiatives. “The progress of Pakistan is directly linked with the progress of Balochistan,” he stated, pledging continued support for the welfare of the province’s citizens.

Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, while speaking about the province’s security situation, said that the people of Balochistan, along with security forces, are standing firmly against terrorism. He emphasised that Parliament plays a vital role in amplifying the concerns and aspirations of all provinces, including Balochistan.

The speaker commended the efforts of the coalition government in Balochistan, noting that it will continue to work for the province’s development and prosperity. CM Bugti appreciated Ayaz Sadiq’s leadership and acknowledged the National Assembly’s role in facilitating key legislative processes aimed at strengthening provincial governance.
