KMC hands over land to TCF Foundation for school in Baldia Town

Published on: November 27, 2025 3:21 AM

In a major step toward strengthening municipal services and ensuring access to fundamental civic and educational facilities, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has handed over a 3,125-square-yard plot to The Citizens Foundation (TCF) for the establishment of a new school in Baldia Town. This initiative aims to enhance local infrastructure, promote quality education, and transform previously abandoned public spaces into productive community assets.

The land transfer is part of KMC’s broader commitment to improving Karachi’s social landscape by supporting reputable welfare organizations and enabling them to serve underserved communities. The establishment of a TCF school in Baldia Town is expected to significantly benefit local families by providing affordable, high-quality education to children who have long lacked access to proper schooling.

A formal MoU signing and handover ceremony was held at the KMC Head Office. Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, graced the occasion along with TCF Chairman Mushtaq Chhapra. Municipal Commissioner KMC, S.M. Afzal Zaidi (PAS), Financial Advisor KMC Gulzar Abro, Director Land Adnan Zaidi, and other senior officers were also present.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab stated that the initiative reflects KMC’s resolve to utilize municipal land for the welfare of citizens, especially in sectors like education that have a lasting impact on society.

“We are committed to the responsible use of Karachi’s resources. Transforming abandoned spaces into centers of learning is an investment in the future of our children and our city,” the Mayor said.

TCF Chairman Mushtaq Chhapra expressed his gratitude to KMC for its trust and partnership, noting that the new school will contribute significantly to the educational uplift of Baldia Town. He reaffirmed TCF’s dedication to providing quality education to underserved communities across Pakistan.

The ceremony concluded with both sides expressing optimism that the project would set a positive precedent for future collaborations aimed at community development.

KMC remains committed to improving infrastructure, enhancing public services, and making Karachi a better, more inclusive city for all.

Separately, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has announced the birth of a horse, multiple Sindh ibex, chital, mouflon, blackbuck, and other wildlife species at Safari Park. This addition marks an important milestone in the park’s ongoing efforts to create a healthier, safer, and more sustainable wildlife environment.

The newly born animals underwent thorough medical examinations by the veterinary team. The doctors confirmed that all animals are in excellent health, and special care arrangements have been made to ensure their continued wellbeing, said KMC spokesperson Daniyal Siyal. Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, has directed the concerned departments to provide enhanced care and maintain a sustainable habitat for the newborn wildlife.

Mayor Murtaza Wahab expressed his delight over the encouraging development, stating:

“I am pleased to announce the birth of 15 wildlife species at Safari Park. Their arrival not only enhances the beauty and diversity of the park but also stands as proof of the healthy and nurturing environment we have created for them. These efforts reflect our commitment to expanding the park’s wildlife capacity and improving the overall ecosystem.”

He added that this is a moment of joy for Safari Park, Karachi’s residents, and all wildlife enthusiasts. To mark the occasion and acknowledge the significance of these births, Mayor Karachi has instructed officials to arrange a naming ceremony and a formal celebration for the newly born animals.

“We must celebrate their arrival to express our care and compassion. Wildlife deserves the same respect and protection as humans, and this celebration is a gesture of our commitment to their wellbeing,” the Mayor noted. The recent births include: 1 Mouflon, 4 Sindh Ibex, 4 Blackbuck, 2 Chital (spotted deer), 1 Horse, 2 Fallow Deer, 1 White Fallow Deer.

KMC reiterates its resolve to continue improving Safari Park’s facilities, expanding breeding programs, and creating a world-class environment where wildlife can thrive.
