Pakistan demands justice after UN flags abuses in Indian-held Kashmir

Published on: November 26, 2025 5:41 PM

Pakistan has expressed deep concern over a United Nations report highlighting serious human rights violations in Indian-administered Kashmir. The UN experts noted widespread abuses following the April attack in Pahalgam, which India blamed on Pakistan without evidence. Pakistan called the findings a confirmation of long-standing concerns about the situation in the occupied territory.

The foreign office said the report exposes systematic violations under Indian occupation, including arbitrary detentions, restrictions on media, and the use of strict laws like PSA and UAPA. Nearly 2,800 people, including journalists, students, and activists, remain in custody. The report also highlighted demolitions, forced evictions, repeated communication blackouts, and curbs on freedom of expression.

Pakistan condemned violence, mob attacks, and discriminatory measures against Kashmiris and other minorities across India. The statement emphasized that these actions confirm Pakistan’s long-standing warnings regarding state-backed oppression in Kashmir. Officials stressed that the abuses violate basic human rights and international norms.

The foreign office demanded that India immediately end its repressive measures and release all detained individuals unconditionally. Pakistan also urged India to protect religious minorities, particularly Muslims and Christians, and take concrete steps to end oppression. Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to a peaceful, just, and lasting solution in line with UN Security Council resolutions.

Pakistan pledged to continue providing moral, political, and diplomatic support to Kashmiris in their struggle against foreign occupation. UN experts noted that post-Pahalgam, Indian forces detained over 2,000 people, destroyed homes, and denied detainees access to lawyers and families. Experts called India’s actions disproportionate restrictions on free expression, assembly, and peaceful protest.
