Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, welcoming the participants of the 27th National Security Workshop, representing Pakistan’s future strategic leadership, was of great significance, stated that his government attaches great value to institutional engagements that promote coordination between civil administration and national security institutions.
A 95-member delegation of the Security Workshop led by Major General Muhammad Raza Aizad visited the CM House on Thursday, where Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah received them and presided over a comprehensive briefing on the province’s development priorities, ongoing reform agenda and post-flood reconstruction progress.
Welcoming the delegation, the Chief Minister said that the visit of 27th National Security Workshop participants, representing Pakistan’s future strategic leadership, was of great significance. He stated that the Sindh Government attaches high value to institutional engagements that promote coordination between civil administration and national security institutions.
The chief minister noted that Sindh’s development policy is anchored in inclusive, equitable, and climate-resilient growth, with special focus on education, health, safe drinking water, sanitation, agricultural productivity, road connectivity, energy infrastructure and poverty reduction. He highlighted that the Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2025-26, with an outlay of over Rs1trillion, reflects the government’s commitment to improving public service delivery and strengthening socio-economic foundations.
Development
The participants were given an extensive overview of the Sindh Development Portfolio 2025-26, including trends in sectoral allocations, completed schemes, financial performance, and the government’s long-term development framework. The delegation was informed that major initiatives under the ADP and foreign-assisted programs are being implemented to improve infrastructure, modernise governance, and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
Post-flood reconstruction
Murad Ali Shah briefed the participants on Sindh’s large-scale post-flood rehabilitation efforts. He highlighted the Sindh People’s Housing for Flood Affectees (SPHF), one of the world’s largest climate recovery and housing reconstruction initiatives, aimed at restoring 2.1 million flood-damaged homes.
Mr Shah noted significant achievements, including the opening of 1.3 million beneficiary accounts, large-scale job creation, and women’s empowerment through land title distribution. The delegation was updated on progress in WASH projects, infrastructure rehabilitation, and community-based resilience programs.
Urban Development & Climate Initiatives: The briefing further covered major urban development initiatives in Karachi, including municipal reforms, road network development, mass transit infrastructure, and the Solid Waste Emergency & Efficiency Project (SWEEP), which is transforming the city’s waste management backbone.
The participants were also informed about the Delta Blue Carbon Project, a globally acclaimed mangrove restoration and climate mitigation initiative that has already generated verified carbon credits and substantial foreign exchange earnings.
Chief Minister Murad Shah thanked the National Security Workshop participants for their visit and their interest in Sindh’s development trajectory. He emphasised that economic resilience, climate adaptation, and sustainable development are now fundamental components of national security and require strong civil-military institutional synergy.
The delegation expressed appreciation for the Government of Sindh’s detailed briefing and acknowledged the scale of efforts being undertaken across various sectors.
Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, IG Police Ghulam Nabi Memon, PSCM Agah Wasif, Chairman P&D Najam Shah, and provincial secretaries of different department attended the briefing.
