Sydney Sweeney and Tom Cruise’s post-event chat at Governors Awards goes viral

Published on: November 20, 2025 2:57 AM

Sydney Sweeney and Tom Cruise’s secretly discussed moment revealed at the Governors Awards.

Both were seen in deep conversation post event that went viral. The exchange triggered widespread speculation about what the two actors were discussing, leading a professional lip reader to offer an interpretation of Sweeney’s remarks.

According to lip reader Jacqui Press, whilst speaking to Daily Mail told, Sweeney was updating Cruise on the injuries she sustained while filming her upcoming biopic Christy.

In the recent clip surfaced on the Internet, Sweeney appeared to tell Cruise, “I’ve never broken a bone, but I sliced my face open,” while describing the physical demands of portraying boxing champion Christy Martin.

Press also claimed the actress mentioned suffering a bloody nose, a concussion and occasional stitches during filming. She reportedly explained that the injuries came from her determination to portray Martin as accurately as possible. Cruise’s responses remain unclear as his back was turned to the camera during most of the interaction.

The viral moment also triggered a burst of online commentary linking Cruise to Scientology. Some users joked about the topic, with one writing, “Auditioning to join Scientology maybe?” while another remarked, “Wait it kinda makes sense for her to join the church of Scientology.”

Both actors drew attention on the red carpet, with Cruise wearing a tailored tuxedo and Sweeney appearing in a strapless Miu Miu gown with an off-the-shoulder drape and diamond accessories.

During the ceremony, Cruise received an Academy Honorary Award and delivered a speech emphasising the shared experience of cinema. “In that theatre, we laugh together, we feel together, we hope together,” he said. Cruise’s appearance also follows reports of his recent split from Ana de Armas, with sources claiming the relationship ended due to disagreements over commitment and lifestyle.
