Pakistan becomes global hub for ICAST-2025

Published on: November 17, 2025 2:44 PM

Pakistan will host the International Conference on Applications of Space Science and Technology (ICAST-2025) in Islamabad from November 18 to 20. The event will gather participants from more than 25 countries and over 70 international delegates. It aims to promote global cooperation and highlight the role of space technology in sustainable development.

Pakistan’s space agency SUPARCO and the Institute of Space Technology are jointly organising the three-day conference. The event is supported by major partners, including ISNET, APSCO, ICESCO, IEEE, and NCGSA.

Organisers expect more than 2,000 participants from Asia, Europe, Africa, North America, and Oceania. The programme will encourage dialogue among scientists, policymakers, astronauts, and industry experts.

Moreover, the conference will explore how space solutions can address climate change, disaster resilience, food security, and sustainable infrastructure. It will feature five plenary sessions, 12 masterclasses, 23 technical sessions, and multiple seminars and panel discussions.

It will also include a Technology Exhibition Forum and a Scientific Poster Session. A special Meet the Astronauts Forum will host astronauts from Turkiye, Mongolia, and the United States.

In addition, the event will spotlight geospatial and satellite-based applications with sessions linked to GIS Day 2025. A dedicated Moon Sighting session will cover scientific, religious, and technological perspectives.

The agenda will also include ISNET’s Strategic Leadership Forum and discussions on space law, ICT, PNT systems, remote sensing, and astronomy. These sessions aim to support innovation and improve decision-making through satellite data.

Furthermore, ICAST-2025 carries strong diplomatic value due to several planned MoUs between Pakistan and international space organisations. The conference will also host the 14th Governing Body Meeting of ISNET.

Organisers say the event will strengthen global partnerships and promote peaceful uses of space technology. They believe it will enhance Pakistan’s role in the global space community and support scientific progress.
