LAHORE – A Lahore Sessions Court has summoned Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmed Khan in Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s defamation suit against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. The case was heard by Additional Sessions Judge Yilmaz Ghani on Saturday.
The PTI founder’s counsel requested extra time for cross-examination, citing the late arrival of senior lawyer Muhammad Hussain, which the court granted. Once proceedings resumed, Muhammad Hussain began cross-examining Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, who appeared in court and took oath before recording his statement.

During the cross-examination, the defense challenged several documents presented as evidence, arguing that they were neither issued by nor written against Imran Khan. Tarar, however, maintained that all documents were certified public records supporting the defamation claim. He also confirmed that a USB submitted in evidence was personally purchased by him and contained media-sourced material.
The defense further questioned Tarar’s political affiliation and credibility, to which he replied that his testimony was strictly based on facts, not politics. After completing the cross-examination and securing Tarar’s signatures on relevant documents, the court proceeded to summon Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmed Khan.
