LAHORE: Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise owners have expressed strong reservations over the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) proposal to add two new teams to the league. The owners warned that expanding the league at this stage could destabilize its current structure.
Sources revealed that the franchise owners emphasized stabilizing the existing six teams financially and operationally before considering any expansion. They cautioned that premature addition of teams could strain resources and affect the overall performance of the league.

Owners also raised concerns over the busy international cricket calendar, including the T20 World Cup and other leagues, which could impact the PSL’s scheduling, brand visibility, and revenue. Quetta Gladiators owner Nadeem Omar added that the team valuation report has not yet been received, making any decision on expansion premature.
In addition to expansion concerns, franchise owners recommended that all future financial dealings with the PCB be conducted in Pakistani rupees rather than US dollars, citing currency fluctuations and financial pressures as key reasons for the change. The matter will be discussed further with the PCB to reach a collaborative solution.
