ATHENS– Two people were killed and several others injured in a shooting in the village of Vorizia on the Greek island of Crete on Saturday, in what police believe was a family vendetta.
According to police, the attackers opened fire in the morning, killing a 39-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman. At least ten others were injured, with four hospitalised, including two men whose involvement in the shooting is being investigated.

Authorities said the attack came after an explosion on Friday night at a nearby construction site where a bomb had been planted, possibly linked to the feud.
Crete has a long history of violent family vendettas stemming from revenge and honour disputes. In response, Greece’s top police officials, including the head of the organised crime unit, have travelled to the island, with additional forces deployed to secure the area.
