Bilawal hails Gaza ceasefire, showcases Sindh’s global achievements

Published on: October 14, 2025 10:18 PM

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari welcomed the ceasefire in Gaza, calling it a crucial step toward ending the suffering of Palestinians. Speaking at a ceremony in Karachi, he said the truce is a positive development, though concerns persist that it might be temporary or deceptive. Bilawal strongly condemned the genocide in Gaza, saying doctors and journalists were deliberately targeted, which exposed the brutal reality to the entire world.

Highlighting his tenure as Foreign Minister, Bilawal said he consistently voiced Pakistan’s strong stance on Palestine in meetings with international leaders. He emphasized that global silence over the atrocities in Gaza had damaged humanity’s conscience. Moreover, he stressed that Pakistan would continue to stand with the people of Palestine until justice and peace are fully restored.

Turning to national progress, Bilawal highlighted Sindh’s achievements, stating that the province’s Economic Zone, initiated during Qaim Ali Shah’s tenure, has gained global recognition. He clarified that Sindh’s progress is not a competition with other provinces but a proud national accomplishment. He added that the province’s success in public-private partnership projects has been appreciated internationally, proving that collaborative development can bring sustainable growth.

Discussing healthcare, Bilawal proudly mentioned that free cancer treatment, unaffordable in many countries, is available in Karachi. He called this a remarkable milestone for Pakistan and a reflection of PPP’s commitment to public welfare. Furthermore, he noted that the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) has earned praise from foreign dignitaries, with several countries adopting similar welfare models inspired by Pakistan’s initiative.

Bilawal also criticized political leaders who rebranded BISP during crises instead of acknowledging its original roots. He pointed out that both PTI and PML-N governments utilized BISP funds for relief programs, proving its reliability and long-term impact. He said such initiatives show that when political differences are set aside, Pakistan can achieve real social progress that benefits every citizen.

Addressing the issue of climate change, Bilawal recalled the devastating 2022 floods in Sindh that destroyed nearly two million homes. He said the disaster was caused by a global climate crisis not created by Pakistan but suffered deeply by its people. To respond effectively, the PPP government invited the UN Secretary-General to witness the damage firsthand and later launched land ownership programs for the displaced. Bilawal concluded by urging unity, saying Pakistan must compete globally rather than engage in internal divisions.
