
ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has departed for Egypt to take part in the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, where a major Gaza peace agreement is expected to be signed to end the long-running war and humanitarian crisis in the enclave.
The visit comes at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and US President Donald Trump, who will co-chair the summit on Monday.

According to the Foreign Office, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and several senior ministers are accompanying the premier.
The summit marks the culmination of month-long diplomatic efforts launched during the UN General Assembly in New York, involving key Muslim nations such as Pakistan, Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Jordan, Indonesia, and Turkiye.

A Foreign Office statement said Pakistan’s participation reflects its long-standing support for the Palestinian cause and the people’s right to self-determination.
“Pakistan hopes the summit will lead to a full Israeli withdrawal, protection of civilians, and reconstruction of Gaza,” the statement added.
The Sharm El-Sheikh Summit is expected to formally sign the Gaza peace accord, marking a major step toward peace and stability in the Middle East after two years of conflict.
