
The Punjab flood relief program will issue ATM cards to survivors across the province after verification, officials said. The cards, called “Maryam Nawaz Sharif Flood Relief ATM Cards,” aim to compensate victims for losses caused by recent floods. Verification will involve PITB, PLRA, and NADRA databases.

Provincial authorities are conducting a survey of affected areas before disbursing funds. So far, teams have reached 41,735 flood victims and recorded crop losses on 49,510 acres. Damage assessments also include 12,500 homes, 603 farmers’ livestock, and 2,459 cattle lost during the floods.
Over 200 villages along the Sutlej River remain submerged due to embankment breaches. Irrigation teams have plugged four of seven breaches and aim to finish repairs within a week. Residents say homes and crops are destroyed, leaving them unable to rebuild their lives.
The flood relief initiative comes amid political disagreements between the PML-N and PPP over aid measures. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz assured that all victims would receive compensation based on their verified losses. Amounts will be transferred directly to the new ATM cards for immediate use.

Separately, the Pakistan Kissan Rabita Committee demanded $10 billion in international aid and loan relief for affected farmers. They also called for land redistribution and overhauls in agricultural and fiscal policies. The Punjab flood relief effort aims to address both immediate needs and long-term recovery.
