After the auction of attractive vehicle registration numbers at cheaper prices by the Excise and Taxation Department, it has been decided to increase the base prices of attractive registration numbers. The base prices of 64 attractive numbers will increase tenfold.
According to Excise and Taxation officials, the base price of registration numbers 1 and 786 in the e-auction will be increased from 10,000 to 100,000. The base price of double digits will be increased from 5,000 to 50,000. Moreover, the base price of triple-digit numbers will be increased from 25,000 to 25,000.
If someone purchases one of the remaining numbers in the 999 series in advance, he will have to pay an additional Rs 10,000.
After the launch of the new system, the required numbers will be issued at the time of registration and transfer of vehicles.
After the implementation of the new system, three series of attractive vehicle numbers and one series for motorcycles will also be registered daily.
The DG Excise has sent a summary of the increase in base prices to the government. After the summary is accepted, the implementation of the special number plate price will be implemented.
