Deputy Commissioner Karachi Malir, taking action against wheat hoarders raided and sealed two rice mills for hoarding wheat illegally. Three rice mills were raided and 75,000 sacks of wheat were recovered from two of the mills. Silver Rice Mill and Asif Rice Mill were sealed during the raid. The action led to a stampede among the workers in the mills. Deputy Commissioner Malir said that this action has been taken on the instructions of the Sindh government to provide cheap flour to the people, while profiteers had hidden and stored a large amount of wheat. He added that strict action will be taken against the hoarders, the wheat has been confiscated and the mills have been sealed. The operation against profiteers will continue further so that relief can be provided to the people.
