Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed has broken into the top five of the ICC Men’s T20I Bowling Rankings. He jumped eight places to claim the fourth spot after strong performances in the Asia Cup. Abrar impressed by taking 2 wickets for 13 runs against the UAE and 1 for 8 against Sri Lanka. His efforts helped Pakistan bounce back in the tournament after losing to India.
Meanwhile, Shaheen Afridi also improved his ranking by moving two spots up to 25th. Haris Rauf gained nine places, now sitting at 28th, thanks to consistent pace bowling. However, Mohammad Nawaz and Sufiyan Muqeem slipped to 46th and 14th respectively. These movements reflect the team’s mixed bowling form during the Asia Cup.
In the batting rankings, India’s Abhishek Sharma held on to the top spot, followed by England’s Phil Salt and India’s Tilak Varma. Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan made an impressive leap, climbing 31 spots to reach 24th place. On the other hand, Saim Ayub dropped to 55th, while Salman Ali Agha and Fakhar Zaman moved slightly up.
Among all-rounders, India’s Hardik Pandya remained at number one, with Rashid Khan and Sikandar Raza following closely. Pakistan’s Mohammad Nawaz rose to 17th, and Faheem Ashraf jumped to 39th, showing depth in the squad’s all-round options. Saim Ayub held steady at fifth, maintaining his key position.
Overall, Pakistan’s players showed promising form in the ICC rankings despite a challenging tournament. Abrar’s breakthrough into the top five stands out as a major achievement. With continued strong performances, more Pakistani cricketers could rise in the global standings ahead of the upcoming international matches.
