Pakistan has called for an immediate and permanent Gaza ceasefire at the OIC session, urging global action to protect Palestinians. Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said Pakistan would push for peace as a UN Security Council member in 2025-26.
Dar condemned Israel’s offensive launched in October 2023, noting over 63,000 Palestinians killed and 94,000 injured, mostly women and children. He said Israeli forces were deliberately hitting homes, schools, hospitals, and aid convoys, violating international law.
He warned that settler violence and raids in the West Bank and East Jerusalem were rising under extremist Israeli leadership. This, he stressed, is an attempt to bury the two-state solution. He called the moment “defining” for the Middle East and Muslim world.
The minister outlined steps for peace, including safe aid corridors, support for UNRWA, an end to displacement, and return of land seized since 1967. He also urged trials for war crimes, payment for damages, and respect for ICJ rulings.
Dar further proposed Arab and Islamic leadership in Gaza’s rebuilding, an international protection force, and recognition of a Palestinian state on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. He stressed that only a lasting Gaza ceasefire can ensure peace.
