Islamabad – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met Irfan Shaukat, Pakistan’s newly appointed High Commissioner to Australia, and emphasized the importance of building strong connections with the Pakistani community there.
During the meeting, Dar extended his best wishes to Shaukat on his new diplomatic assignment. He also appreciated Shaukat’s previous service as Chief of Staff at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for over 18 months.
The Foreign Office said Shaukat met with the Deputy Prime Minister ahead of assuming his new responsibilities in Canberra. The meeting focused on setting clear diplomatic priorities for Pakistan’s engagement with Australia.
Ishaq Dar advised the High Commissioner to actively engage with the Pakistani diaspora and further enhance cooperation in trade, economy, and education. He also emphasized the need to promote Pakistan’s image and interests in Australia through community outreach.
Shaukat assured the Deputy Prime Minister of his commitment to fulfilling the role with dedication. He said he would focus on strengthening bilateral ties and representing Pakistan’s interests effectively in Australia.
