The Peshawar Board has released the results for 11th grade exams, showing a low pass rate of just 44%. Out of 66,695 students, only 29,487 passed, while 37,208 failed in one or more subjects.
Despite the high failure rate, the board announced that all students will be promoted to 12th grade under the current education policy. This step aims to ensure that students do not drop out and can continue their education smoothly.
However, the 56% who failed will still need to reappear in the second annual exams to clear their failed subjects. These supplementary exams will be crucial for their final qualification.
The board’s decision reflects a student-friendly approach, but also highlights serious concerns about academic performance and exam readiness. Teachers and schools are expected to play a bigger role in helping students improve before the next round of exams.
The results have sparked debate among educators and parents about the effectiveness of the current curriculum, teaching methods, and evaluation standards. Many are calling for reforms to address the root causes of such low success rates.
