10th monsoon spell to bring heavy rains in Punjab

Published on: September 5, 2025 1:48 PM

The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has warned that the 10th spell of monsoon will hit the province from Saturday, September 6, bringing heavy rainfall over several days.

According to a PDMA spokesperson, most districts of Punjab, including Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, and Jhelum, are expected to receive significant rainfall from September 6 to 9.

Other districts likely to experience rain include Narowal, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Okara, Sahiwal, Kasur, Jhang, Sargodha, and Mianwali. Southern Punjab areas such as Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Rajanpur are also under alert.

PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia warned of possible flash floods in Dera Ghazi Khan between September 7 and 9. Authorities have expressed concern over rising water levels in the Chenab, Ravi, and Sutlej rivers.

Urban flooding is also a risk in major cities due to overflowing drains and streams. PDMA has instructed all administrative officials, including commissioners and deputy commissioners, to remain on high alert during this spell.

DG Kathia urged citizens to take precautions, stay away from rivers and streams, avoid unnecessary travel, and remain in safe locations. In emergencies, people can contact PDMA helpline 1129 for immediate assistance.
