LAHORE: Five suspected criminals were killed on Saturday in three separate alleged police encounters conducted by the Crime Control Department (CCD) in Lahore. According to a CCD spokesperson, the incidents occurred in Chong, Nishtar, and Cantt areas.
Officials said the suspects were being transported for recovery operations when their accomplices opened fire on the police in a bid to free them. The CCD claims that the suspects were hit and killed by gunfire from their own allies during the exchange.
The bodies were shifted to a hospital for postmortem examination, and further investigation into the encounters is ongoing. The CCD has not yet released the names or criminal backgrounds of the deceased.
Meanwhile, security agencies continue to uncover espionage networks. In a related development, law enforcement recently exposed a RAW-backed hit squad involved in the May 2025 murder of a citizen in Badin. Pakistani officials allege the killing was orchestrated by an Indian agent operating from a Gulf country.
Additionally, a suspected spy, identified as Muhammad Ubaid Jahangir, was arrested in Rawalakot last month on charges of providing sensitive data to Indian intelligence. A formal case has been registered, and authorities are pursuing leads on local facilitators and other foreign links.
