Interior minister launches crackdown on illegal encroachments

Published on: August 23, 2025 6:12 PM

Islamabad’s Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has ordered a strict operation to remove illegal encroachments across the city. He chaired a meeting at the CDA headquarters to review ongoing and upcoming projects. Naqvi emphasized that no leniency would be shown toward illegal occupants. He instructed authorities to complete clearance operations by September 30. The operation aims to free all affected sectors from unauthorized structures.

In the meeting, Naqvi announced the foundation stone ceremonies for two key projects: the T-Chowk flyover and Shaheen Chowk underpass. Both projects will begin in early September. These infrastructure improvements will ease traffic flow and enhance public convenience. Naqvi tasked the SSP Operations, ADCG, and Director DMA with leading the anti-encroachment drive. He also ordered strict enforcement of housing society regulations.

Moreover, the minister approved Phase One of the Diplomatic Enclave Upgradation Project. This phase includes road repairs, boundary walls, cycling tracks, and park renovations. Officials also discussed revitalizing the Gandhara Heritage and Citizen Center. Additionally, Naqvi instructed remodeling work at the popular tourist spot, Daman-e-Koh. These projects aim to improve public spaces and boost tourism in Islamabad.

The meeting further reviewed the progress of several residential sectors. Work on sectors C-14, C-15, and C-16 is ongoing, while E-12 and I-12 must be completed soon. New development plans for sectors C-13, D-13, E-13, and F-13 were requested. Naqvi also called for the completion of initial construction on two five-star hotels by December 31. These efforts will expand Islamabad’s housing and hospitality facilities.

Finally, officials shared updates on the model jail project, which is nearing completion. Land has been allocated for the Capital House project as well. The meeting included CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa and other top officials. Overall, the government is moving fast to improve Islamabad’s infrastructure and living conditions.
