Quetta – Mobile internet services have been suspended across Balochistan for the past two weeks, causing major difficulties for students, freelancers, and online businesses. The disruption continues to impact daily life, with no full restoration in sight.
According to provincial authorities, the suspension was imposed due to security concerns and will remain in place until August 31. Officials say the decision was made to ensure law and order in sensitive areas of the province.
Locals report serious challenges, especially for students who are unable to attend online classes, and freelancers whose livelihoods depend on stable internet access. Many have called on the government to offer alternative solutions or partial restoration.
The Balochistan High Court has taken notice of the issue and directed authorities to reconsider the blanket ban. The court has ordered the restoration of internet services in areas where no security threat exists, aiming to strike a balance between security and public convenience.
Despite the court’s directive, full internet access remains unavailable in most parts of the province, leaving many residents in digital isolation. Affected users are urging authorities to act swiftly and consider region-specific solutions instead of province-wide shutdowns.
