RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Information Technology Board has decided to start survey of various places in the next week for identifying free Wifi service points in Rawalpindi, to provide Wifi services to residents of Rawalpindi. Punjab Information Technology Board will identify the areas to provide free Wifi services to citizens as per directives of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif. An official of Punjab Information Technology Board on condition of anonymity informed that free Wifi services would be extended at 30 public places; while State of the Art internet towers worth Rs30 million would be installed at places. During the first phase, the board team would visit Nawaz Sharif Park, Liaqat Bagh Park, Metro Stations located in Rawalpindi, Benazir General Hospital, Rawalpindi Development Authority, WASA, Holy Family Hospital, Rawalpindi Railway Station, Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Raja Bazaar, Moti Bazaar, Commercial Market, Commissioner Office, district Courts. During the second phase, the team would visit Cantonment Hospital Cantt, Race Course Park Mall Road, Jinnah Park, Romi Park Mall Road and other areas. Meanwhile, free Wifi services would also be provided at other places at later stage. All possible initiatives are being taken to complete the project by 10th June as per the Board orders.
