PM Shehbaz visits Gilgit to assess flood damage

Published on: August 4, 2025 11:30 AM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is visiting Gilgit Baltistan today to assess the impact of recent heavy rains and floods in the region. His visit aims to understand the damages and help affected communities recover quickly. The prime minister plans to spend the entire day in Gilgit to oversee relief efforts.

During his visit, PM Shehbaz will meet with local residents who have suffered losses due to the floods. He will personally interact with the affected families and listen to their concerns. In addition, he will distribute compensation cheques to support those impacted by the natural disaster.

The prime minister will also chair a high-level meeting to review the overall damage caused by the torrential rains in Gilgit Baltistan. This session will help identify urgent needs and plan future recovery steps. Officials will discuss how to provide quick assistance to the affected areas.

PM Shehbaz will hold separate meetings with Gilgit Governor Syed Mehdi Shah and Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan. They will brief him on the flood situation and ongoing relief work. The government aims to ensure effective coordination between federal and local authorities during this crisis.

The prime minister’s visit demonstrates the government’s commitment to helping flood victims. Authorities are focused on restoring normalcy and providing timely support to the affected communities. With continuous monitoring and assistance, officials hope to minimize the hardships caused by the floods.

This visit comes amid widespread concerns about climate-related disasters in northern Pakistan. By closely reviewing the situation, PM Shehbaz intends to strengthen disaster response and improve future preparedness in the region.
