CTD kills three TTP terrorists behind attack on Chinese

Published on: July 28, 2025 10:46 AM

KARACHI – Three terrorists involved in past attacks on Chinese nationals were killed in a shootout with the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) late Sunday night in Karachi’s Manghopir area. According to CTD in-charge Raja Umar Khattab, security personnel conducted a raid after receiving intelligence reports about the presence of terrorists belonging to the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

As the CTD and intelligence officers approached the location, the terrorists opened fire from inside the house, leading to a prolonged gun battle. All three terrorists were killed during the exchange of gunfire. One of them was a suicide bomber, prepared to carry out future attacks.

The CTD official stated that the terrorists had entered Pakistan from Afghanistan and were responsible for an attack on Chinese nationals last year. Their weapons included Kalashnikovs, pistols, grenades, suicide jackets, and a diary listing possible future targets.

Two of the slain terrorists were identified as Zafran and Qudratullah. Notably, Zafran had a bounty of Rs20 million placed on his head by the government. The identity of the third militant remains unknown as of now.

The bodies were shifted to the Civil Hospital for legal procedures. Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies have launched further search operations to trace remaining members of the network and prevent future attacks.

Authorities believe the neutralization of these high-value targets is a major breakthrough in the fight against terrorism. Security forces remain on high alert to ensure the safety of foreign nationals and critical sites across the country.
