CJCSC strengthens defence ties at IDEF 2025 in Turkiye

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza represented Pakistan at the 17th International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF-2025) in Istanbul, Turkiye. The event is globally known for showcasing the latest advancements in defence technology and military cooperation. General Sahir’s visit underscored Pakistan’s growing focus on international defence collaboration and technological partnerships.

On the sidelines of the event, General Sahir held separate meetings with top defence officials from Turkiye and Azerbaijan. He met Turkish Defence Minister General (Retd) Yasar Guler and Chief of General Staff General Metin Gurak. From Azerbaijan, he engaged with Defence Minister Colonel General Hasanov Zakir Asgar Oglu and Deputy Defence Minister Mr Gurbanov Agil Salim Oglu. These discussions focused on strengthening bilateral military relations.

The meetings highlighted the need to expand cooperation in defence and security. The leaders stressed the importance of adapting to future strategic challenges and incorporating new technologies. They agreed to boost joint initiatives and maintain strong ties between their armed forces.

All dignitaries praised the Pakistan Armed Forces for their professionalism and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. They acknowledged Pakistan’s key role in promoting peace and stability, both regionally and globally. General Sahir reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to international military collaboration.

This visit marks another step in Pakistan’s defence diplomacy, aligning with broader strategic goals. It also reflects the country’s aim to contribute to a secure and stable global defence environment through innovation, unity, and shared values.
