Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has officially launched the Punjab Counter-Narcotics Force, vowing zero tolerance against drug dealers. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Lahore, she declared that drug peddlers have no place in the province. Maryam Nawaz presented the official flag to an officer and inspected the force’s parade during the event.
She praised the quick establishment of the anti-drug force, calling it a bold and timely step. Stressing the urgency of the matter, she said eradicating drugs—especially from schools and colleges—is vital for protecting future generations. According to her, Punjab is moving firmly towards becoming a drug-free province.
The chief minister also emphasized that the new force will be fully operational across all divisions of Punjab. A strict, zero-tolerance policy will be followed to crack down on drug supply networks. Furthermore, no compromise will be made on issues that have long harmed youth and society.
In addition to the anti-drug efforts, Maryam Nawaz shared that a Crimes Control Department has already been established. This new department, she noted, has contributed to a noticeable decrease in crime rates across the province. Criminals, she claimed, are now surrendering, repenting publicly, and even apologizing in mosques.
To further strengthen law and order, she announced that an anti-encroachment force will soon begin its operations. Maryam Nawaz also stressed that her government is fully committed to ensuring a safer, healthier, and more secure Punjab for every citizen. Every possible step will be taken to eliminate drugs from society.
