Tensions between India and the United States have deepened after US President Donald Trump hosted Pakistan’s military chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, at the White House. The rare meeting — held without any senior Pakistani civilian officials — was viewed by New Delhi as a provocative move, especially following a recent conflict between India and Pakistan. Furthermore, India fears any renewed US military support to Pakistan could be used against it if conflict flares up again. A Pakistani statement after the meeting said both sides discussed enhancing counter-terrorism cooperation and strengthening defense ties — a development that further alarmed Indian officials.
