ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced plans to include Pakistan among the world’s top tourist destinations by unlocking the country’s full tourism potential.
He made these remarks while chairing a high-level meeting on promoting tourism in Pakistan. During the session, officials presented proposals aimed at boosting the tourism sector and attracting international and domestic travelers.
The meeting was attended by federal ministers Attaullah Tarar, Hanif Abbasi, Engineer Amir Muqam, PM’s advisor Rana Sanaullah, Special Assistant Huzayfa Rehman, and senior government officials.
The prime minister expressed satisfaction over a Bloomberg report highlighting Pakistan’s tourism potential. He stated that Pakistan has unmatched natural beauty and diverse landscapes including snow-covered mountains, forests, rivers, plains, and deserts.
Highlighting the country’s rich natural resources, PM Shehbaz emphasized that Pakistan is not behind any nation in terms of tourism opportunities. He directed officials to promote Pakistan internationally as a tourism brand and collaborate with provinces to strengthen the sector.
Moreover, he instructed the Pakistan Tourism Development Authority to take practical steps for the promotion of tourism. He also stressed the creation of special tourism zones and called for joint efforts by the public and private sectors to make travel easier for international tourists.
For local tourism, the prime minister urged measures to encourage domestic visitors to explore recreational spots. He also called for long-term investment plans to strengthen the tourism industry across the country.
