KARACHI – Popular actress and morning show host Nida Yasir has revealed a shocking incident involving her foreign housemaid, who stole valuable items from her home, including a designer polo shirt and €300.
Speaking on her morning show Good Morning Pakistan, Nida shared that she had hired a maid from the Philippines to look after her son Balaj shortly after his birth. She admitted placing immense trust in the maid due to her foreign background.
However, over time, Nida noticed that valuables including mobile phones and foreign-bought items were going missing from her home. Suspicion grew when she discovered that some euros were missing from her purse after handing it to the maid during a shopping trip.
This prompted Nida to take action. When the maid asked for leave, Nida decided to accompany her to her residence. What she found shocked her—three full bags containing stolen items from her home, including her missing polo shirt and €300, were recovered from the maid’s balcony.
Nida said she chose not to report the maid to the police, as the stolen items were returned and the maid had served the family. However, she did notify the hiring agency in writing, warning them of the maid’s actions to prevent similar incidents.
In her final remarks, Nida urged people to be cautious when hiring foreign domestic workers, noting that trust should not be blindly placed based on nationality. “They can steal too,” she warned viewers.
