Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy arrived in Britain on Monday for a short visit focused on strengthening military cooperation. His visit aims to secure more support amid ongoing conflict with Russia.
At Windsor Castle, Zelenskiy met King Charles III. This was their third meeting this year, reflecting the strong and continued support from the British monarchy and government. They shook hands as a sign of solidarity and mutual respect.
Later in the day, Zelenskiy was scheduled to meet Prime Minister Keir Starmer and the speakers of both houses of Parliament. Discussions are set to focus on increasing pressure on Russia and further aid to Ukraine’s defence forces.
Following a deadly Russian missile attack on Kyiv, Zelenskiy stated on social media that negotiations would target “new and powerful steps” to stop Russian aggression. His spokesman added the visit also includes meetings with Ukrainian soldiers training in Britain and with policy experts.
The visit highlights Britain’s commitment to supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and defence as the war with Russia continues to escalate.
