FIFA expresses strong commitment to supporting football development in Pakistan

MIAMI: FIFA President Gianni Infantino has conveyed a strong desire to actively support the advancement of football in Pakistan, emphasizing collaboration with the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) and the Pakistani government.

The discussion took place during the Club World Cup event in Miami, where Infantino met with Pakistan Football Federation President Mohsin Gillani. The meeting focused on key challenges and opportunities within Pakistani football, including the promotion of women’s football and enhancing Pakistan’s participation in FIFA-sanctioned competitions and events.

Infantino pledged FIFA’s full cooperation and expressed his intent to engage directly with government authorities to ensure adequate support and resources for the PFF’s development initiatives. He recognized the importance of structured planning and strategic leadership in revitalizing the sport nationwide.

Mohsin Gillani outlined his vision and comprehensive plans for the growth of football in Pakistan, highlighting efforts to improve grassroots programs, infrastructure, and talent development. The PFF aims to foster wider participation and elevate the country’s competitive presence on the international stage.

FIFA President Infantino expressed optimism about the future of Pakistani football under Gillani’s stewardship, noting that his experience and commitment would be vital in overcoming existing challenges and driving sustained progress.

This meeting marks a significant step toward stronger FIFA-Pakistan collaboration, with a focus on nurturing both men’s and women’s football, aiming to create a more vibrant football culture across the country.
