ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has strongly reaffirmed its support for Iran amid the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict, despite recent speculation triggered by Field Marshal Asim Munir’s meeting with former US President Donald Trump in Washington.
A top official familiar with the White House discussions confirmed that Pakistan’s stance on Iran remains “100% the same.” He emphasized that Pakistan is one of the few nations still actively standing by Iran, even as tensions escalate in the region.
The Trump-Munir meeting drew criticism online, especially from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters, who expressed concern over the meeting’s optics. Some political voices went so far as to suggest a shift in Pakistan’s foreign policy under American pressure.
However, on Thursday, Pakistan’s Foreign Office dismissed such speculation. Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan condemned Israel’s military actions against Iran, calling them “unjustified and illegitimate aggression.” He urged the United Nations and international community to take immediate action.
Khan reaffirmed that Pakistan stands in “strong solidarity with the people of Iran” and warned that Israel’s repeated provocations pose a serious threat to regional and global peace. His statement offered a clear message that Pakistan’s regional commitments remain unchanged.
Despite growing international pressure and domestic debate, Pakistan has once again clarified its foreign policy position. The country continues to support Iran and reject any Israeli aggression that violates international laws.
