Field marshal Munir honoured by overseas Pakistanis in US for leadership and armed forces’ bravery

WASHINGTON DC – Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir received a warm and enthusiastic welcome from overseas Pakistanis during his official visit to the United States. At a large gathering in Washington DC, the Pakistani diaspora appreciated his leadership and the armed forces’ courage during recent clashes with India.

Addressing the community, Field Marshal Munir praised overseas Pakistanis for their continuous contributions to the national economy. He highlighted how their remittances, investments, and global achievements uplift Pakistan’s reputation around the world.

Meanwhile, the diaspora lauded the military’s professionalism and bravery during Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos and Marka-e-Haq. They gave a standing ovation to the COAS for his bold leadership in defending the country’s sovereignty during the recent military standoff with India.

The interaction also included an open exchange, where overseas Pakistanis shared their feedback and suggestions. Field Marshal Munir emphasised the importance of strong ties with overseas communities, encouraging collaboration to overcome shared challenges and strengthen national unity.

This visit followed last month’s escalation, where India launched unprovoked strikes on Pakistani cities after the April 22 Pahalgam attack. In response, Pakistan’s armed forces launched a decisive operation, shooting down six Indian fighter jets and multiple drones, before a US-brokered ceasefire was reached on May 10.

In recognition of his extraordinary leadership and courage during the conflict, General Asim Munir was promoted to the rank of Field Marshal. His visit to the US ended with a joint pledge between him and the diaspora to build a secure and resilient Pakistan.
